Long years ago, when all the world was different and things happened at a slower pace than they do today, there lived a family of people and animals that extended so far and wide that they would have reached into the next county if you placed them end to end.
In a family that large, stories are always happening. Here are three short tales about cats and sheep and Most Mysterious wild creatures, all of them true, told in simple but elegant watercolor and ink drawings from a talented Maine artist… evoking the simpler time when she lived on the little farm at the top of a rolling hill that sat Under the Rooster Weathervane.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
BARBARA THORNSJO was a gifted folk artist who worked in papier-mâché, paint, pen and ink and a variety of other media to create signs, arrangements, tables, jack-in-the-boxes and many more wonderful and eccentric pieces. In the late '80s her jack-in-the-boxes were exhibited at the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine, and featured on the PBS series MADE IN MAINE. She died in 2010.
