The Roosevelt Bears are here to help.
THE ROOSEVELT BEARS ORACLE - another charming, original oracle system from The Playroom Oracles featuring vintage illustrations by V. Floyd Campbell, Francis F. Wightman and William K. Sweeney.
When in 1902 United States president Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt refused to shoot a maltreated bear that had been chained to a tree for the purpose, the story leaked to the press and took the form of a political cartoon that swept the nation. While merchants and doll manufacturers on both sides of the Atlantic raced to bring toy bears into the market, it was writer and librarian Seymour Eaton who coined the name “Teddy Bear,” and subsequently presented in book form the adventures of Teddy B. (brown) and Teddy G. (gray) — The Roosevelt Bears.
For this deck, new scans were made from first editions in the Duck Soup vaults of three books in the series: More About The Roosevelt Bears, The Bear Detectives, and The Roosevelt Bears Abroad. Most of the cards utilize restored color illustrations, but a few individual cards present newly-colored versions of illustrations that originally appeared in black-and-white.
